Researcher Christopher C. Whalen and colleagues from Cleveland, Ohio's Case Western Reserve University report that the six-month regimen resulted in a 67 percent reduction in active tuberculosis among subjects, compared to a control group given placebo - but the protection was found to be short-term ("A Trial of Three Regimens to Prevent Tuberculosis in Ugandan Adults Infected with HIV," The New England Journal of Medicine, September 1997;337(12):801-808).
