M. tb's Outer Capsular Materials Modulate Binding

The outer capsular materials of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, most likely in the form of neural polysaccharides, modulate its binding to mammalian cells, according to a report from France.

The choice of host cell receptor and the mechanism of binding (opsonic versus non-opsonic) may influence the intracellular fate of M. tuberculosis.
