"The Utility of CSF Culture for the New Diagnosis of Mycobacterial Infection in Patients Seropositive for HIV."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 37th ICAAC, held September 28 - October 1, 1997, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, "Objective: To investigate the utility of submitting cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) for routine AFB culture in patients with HIV infection (HIV+) from an area endemic for Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. Tb.). Methods: We retrospectively reviewed prospectively collected data on 743 consecutive admissions of HIV+ patients.
