"Liposomal Amikacin (miKasome) in the Treatment of HIV Related Mycobacterial Disease."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 37th ICAAC, held September 28 - October 1, 1997, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, "miKasome (Nextstar Pharmaceuticals) is a liposomal formulation of Amikacin (LA), which shows in-vitro activity against several strains of mycobacteria. We describe three cases in which LA was used to treat clinically and microbiologically resistant mycobacterial disease. Case 1: A 26 year old male, with a 8 month history of MDRTB being treated with 6 sensitive drugs, developed TB meningitis and tuberculomas.
