TB Patients' Reluctance to Pursue Treatment Not Due to Illness

Results of a survey conducted in Los Angeles, California, of symptomatic tuberculosis patients showed that factors unrelated to their disease prompted delay in seeking treatment. 20 percent of 248 survey respondents delayed seeking care for more than 60 days (mean = 74 days; standard deviation (SD) = 216 days).
