Unusual TB Meningitis in Child Reported

Researchers in Australia report an unusual case of tuberculous meningitis in an immunocompetent child diagnosed six months after beginning supervised therapy for miliary tuberculosis.

"In spite of aggressive medical management he deteriorated neurologically, developing hydrocephalus and multiple brain stem and intracranial tuberculomas," Anne B. Chang and colleagues wrote ("Central Nervous System Tuberculosis After Resolution of Miliary Tuberculosis," Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, June 1998;17(6):519-523).
