Microscopic Morphology Useful for Mycobacteria ID

Acid-fast morphology in radiometric cultures is a rapid and cost-efficient method for the presumptive identification of common mycobacteria isolates, according to a report from Spain.

In this study, researcher J. Gonzalez and colleagues from the University of Barcelona assessed the feasibility of a method for presumptive identification of mycobacteria, based on the morphology in smears prepared from radiometric Bactec-positive cultures (Becton Dickinson, USA).
