According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 38th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, held September 24-27, 1998, in San Diego, California, "CRL-1072 is a poloxamer surfactant, which has a marked antimycobacterial activity within macrophages and in mice (Jagannath et al., Antimicrob. Agent Chemother 1995;39:1349). It has now been approved for use in humans.
