College Dorm Students At Risk for Meningitis

Data reported in the July 1999 issue of Clinical Infectious Disease show U.S. college students living in dormitories have an 8.89 to 22.91 times greater risk of meningococcal disease than students living in other types of accommodations.

These findings, which reflect a two-year study, support recent data reported by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
