According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 20th Annual Congress of the European Society of Mycobacteriology, held July 4-7, 1999, in Lucerne, Switzerland, "Fifteen strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis were selected, randomized, and tested for their susceptibility to the first line antituberculosis drugs in the MB/BacT liquid culture system using a technique developed by Beer et al.
