Universal DOT: Necessary Strategy or Waste of Resources?

In recent years few have questioned the belief that directly observed therapy is a superior strategy for controlling the spread of tuberculosis.

But that may be changing.

Researchers have begun to wonder aloud whether directly observed therapy (DOT), and especially universal DOT, is the best use of limited tuberculosis funding.
