Distinct Variant of "W Strain" Reported in New Jersey

A distinct variant of the tuberculosis W strain was found in a previously unreported outbreak of the disease from New Jersey.

Typing Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains could provide a more sensitive means of identifying outbreaks than use of conventional surveillance techniques alone. In this report, P.J.
