Homeless Adults Seek Medical Attention for Serious Problems

According to a study from the United States, homeless persons will seek professional medical attention when they feel the need is serious.

L. Gelberg and colleagues from the University of California at Los Angeles conducted a study focusing on the effects of mental health, substance use, residential history, competing needs, and victimization on a homeless population of 363 individuals.

The subjects were examined concerning four study conditions: high blood pressure, functional vision impairment, skin/leg/foot problems, and tuberculosis skin test positivity. Subjects with any one of the study conditions were followed for up to eight months...
