Ofloxacin/Levofloxacin Treatments Effective Against Multi-Drug Resistant TB

Researchers in the Peoples Republic of China found ofloxacin/levofloxacin-containing regimens were effective in the treatment of most multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) patients.

Most patients in their study (51 of 63) treated with this combination were cured. The only variables found to be independently associated with adverse outcomes were cavitation, resistance to ofloxacin, and poor adherence (p<0.05; odds ratios = 15.9, 13.5, 12.8, respectively), they reported.
