Tuberculosis Surveillance in Poland Finds Stable Levels of Resistant Strains

A study of the prevalence and epidemiology of tuberculosis infection in Polish patients was recently reported in the International Journal of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease.

In that report, study authors say that the rate of new and resistant tuberculosis cases has remained essentially the same over the last 20 years.

Investigators at Poland's National Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases carried out a prospective study of almost 4,000 tuberculosis patients, including 994 patients who had been previously treated for tuberculosis (Z.
