Nine-Year Study at Tertiary Cancer Center Sees Little Infection with Legionella

Cancer patients with underlying hematologic malignancies were the ones most often diagnosed with Legionella pneumonia in a review performed by researchers at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas.

Even then, the overall level of Legionella pneumonia contracted by cancer patients during the nine years covered by the review was low, according to findings presented by Marisa M. Miceli et al. at the Infectious Diseases of America 2000 conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.
