The researchers work in the Department of Microbiology at Harran University Medical School in Turkey. It was in the medical school's hospital where M. Ulukanligil and associates were able to obtain 465 specimens from 295 patients. Single specimens were acquired from 201 patients. Each of the patient samples was submitted to the laboratory for culture and ZN or FM analysis.
