NIH Report Shows That Condoms Do Not Provide Safe Sex

Condoms, long the mainstay of the safe-sex public health model, do not protect against the spread of nearly all sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), according to a benchmark report released by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

"Clinical research and experience has long caused us to seriously doubt the effectiveness of condoms to provide 'safe sex'," said Hal Wallis, MD, a spokesman for the Physicians Consortium, a group of more than 2,000 doctors who advocate for sound public health policy.
