Cubist Pharmaceuticals Completes Enrollment In Cidecin Phase III Trial

Patient enrollment has been completed in the first of two pivotal Phase III trials investigating the safety and efficacy of Cidecin (daptomycin for injection) in the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia requiring hospitalization, according to Cubist Pharmaceuticals Inc. The completion of enrollment in this study triggers a $3 million milestone payment from Gilead Sciences to Cubist per the CIDECIN European commercialization agreement executed in January 2001.
More than 700 patients were enrolled in this first trial (CAP1), which is an international, randomized, prospective, double-blinded study. The trial is being conducted predominantly in the Northern...
