Mycobacterial Growth Indicator Tube Suitable For Use

by Michael Greer, senior medical writer - The fully automatic BACTEC Mycobacteria Growth Indicator Tube (MGIT) 960 system is a fast, simple, and accurate method for tuberculosis screening, according to researchers in Taiwan.

T. S. Huang and colleagues at Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital compared the performance of the MGIT 960 with other commonly used tests, including the current standard, BACTEC's radiometric 460TB system.

The MGIT 960 is roughly as accurate as the 460TB, Huang and coworkers found, and surpasses it in speed and ease of use.
