International Prohibition Of Biological Weapons Sought

The American Medical Association (AMA) introduced a declaration at the October 2001, annual meeting of the World Medical Association (WMA) that condemns the research, development, production or use of biological weapons as morally and ethically unacceptable.

Stressing that all countries face the threat of a biological attack, the AMA urged fellow WMA members, representing national medical associations from 76 countries, to establish effective international control measures to minimize the potential for a catastrophic scenario.
