MRI well-suited for measuring spinal involvement

by Michael Greer, senior medical writer - Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can accurately measure the extent of spinal tuberculosis, particularly its spread into posterior spinal elements, researchers say.

"Recently, there has been a renewed interest in [spinal] tuberculosis in the west because of its reemergence, especially in immunocompromised patients (e.g., HIV)," explained Dr. Ranjeet S.
