Vaccine manufacturer announces plans to meet U.S. demand for flu vaccine

Aventis Pasteur has announced the company is committed to meeting U.S. demand for Fluzone influenza virus vaccine following Wyeth's recent announcement to discontinue production of its influenza vaccine.

Aventis Pasteur's Swiftwater, Pennsylvania, facility currently produces about half the influenza vaccine used in the U.S. Aventis Pasteur globally produces more than half the influenza vaccine used in the world.

Aventis Pasteur recently announced an $80 million investment to increase filling and formulation capacity at its Swiftwater facility. The company is in the process of evaluating a still greater expansion within the next several years to...
