Lactoferrin peptide synergistic with fluconazole against resistant Candida species

Antonella Lupetti and colleagues at Bilthoven-based AM Pharma, the Leiden University Medical Center Leiden, and Universita degli Studi di Pisa in Pisa evaluated the antifungal efficacy of the lactoferrin-derived peptide hLF(1-11).
In addition to its own potent fungicidal effects, hLF(1-11) sensitizes refractory C. albicans and other Candida pathogens to fluconazole, Lupetti and coauthors found.
