According to recent research from Hungary, "earlier data suggested that gamma/delta T cells may play an important role in the immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis."
To elucidate the activity of these cells during infection, L. Szereday and colleagues at the University of Pecs conducted a study to "determine the percentage of different gamma/delta subsets in peripheral blood of active tuberculosis patients with a positive or negative tuberculin reaction."
