Writing in the Journal of Hospital Infection, M. Thuong and colleagues at L' Hopital Bichat Claude Bernard, Paris, France, explained, "Because of a high prevalence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections, we conducted an epidemiological study to assess the need for systematic surveillance, as well as the value of applying barrier precautions to P. aeruginosa carriers."
