MRI useful for detecting asymptomatic spinal arachnoiditis in TBM patients

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a valuable tool for detecting asymptomatic spinal arachnoiditis in tuberculous meningitis (TBM) patients.

"Spinal arachnoiditis is one of the common and disabling complications" of TBM, scientists in India explained.

In a recent study, T. Srivastava and colleagues at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi evaluated "early diagnosis of spinal arachnoiditis by spinal MRI in asymptomatic patients in whom neurological examination was normal."
