"High-density oligonucleotide microarrays allow simultaneous monitoring of the expression of a large number of cellular genes," scientists in the United States explained.
In a study conducted by J.P. Wang and colleagues at the University of California-San Diego, "microarrays were used to screen the global human monocyte-derived macrophage transcriptional response to infection with the intracellular pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis."
