U.N. officials warn outbreak of Asia's bird flu far is from under control

Asia's bird flu death toll rose to 12 with the announcement February 2, 2004, of two additional deaths, while China said it suspected the virus has reached poultry in one of its most remote corners.

U.N. officials warned the outbreak was far from over.

The latest victims were an 18-year-old man in Vietnam who died February 2, 2004, and a 58-year-old woman in Thailand whose death was confirmed February 2, 2004, to be from bird flu following an autopsy.
