Center established to study new virus and terror

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Singapore have established a regional center to study and control new viruses, a senior official said, adding that rogue scientists could exploit recent advancements to create new biotechnology threats.

The Regional Emerging Diseases Intervention Center, or REDI, was established "against the backdrop of potential threats posed by newly emerging diseases," said Coordinating Minister for Security Tony Tan.
