Chlamydia pneumoniae may be an infectious risk factor for atherosclerosis

Infection and inflammatory response may be linked to the development of atherosclerosis, researchers say.

According to recent research published in the journal Nature Reviews Microbiology, "Cardiovascular disease, of which atherosclerosis is an important component, is the leading cause of death in the western world."
