Population genetics of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes from Cambodia summarized

Scientists have compared amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP), microsatellite, and isoenzyme markers in populations of Aedes aegypti from Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

According to recent research from France, "Aedes aegypti is the main vector of dengue viruses responsible for dengue hemorrhagic fever, which has become a major public health concern in tropical countries. Because vaccines are still under development, dengue prevention depends entirely on vector control. Knowledge of gene dispersal patterns is required to develop efficient vector control strategies.
