Novel CD200 receptor-like protein identified on basophils and mast cells

A novel CD200 receptor family member expressed by basophils and mast cells has been identified and characterized.

"Modulation by balancing activating and inhibitory receptors constitutes an important mechanism for regulating lymphocyte and myeloid cell effector responses," scientists in the United States explained.

"Using a microarray screen during parasitic helminth infection," D. Voehringer and colleagues at the University of California-San Francisco "identified CD200 receptor-like 3 as a transcript highly expressed in basophils."
