According to recent research published in the journal Vaccine, "Stable protective immunity can be achieved against malaria by the injection of radiation-attenuated sporozoites (gamma-spz) and is mediated by IFN-gamma producing CD8+ T cells targeting the pre-erythrocytic stages.
