Reports add new data to malaria vaccines research

Data on malaria vaccines are outlined in reports from Colombia, the United Kingdom and Senegal.

Study 1: Scientists have identified and characterized the Plasmodium falciparum merozoite surface protein 10 Plasmodium vivax homologue.

According to recent research published in the journal Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, "Plasmodium vivax malaria is one of the most prevalent parasitic diseases in Asia and Latin-America. The difficulty of maintaining this parasite culture in vitro has hampered identifying and characterizing proteins implied in merozoite invasion of red blood cells.
