A multiplex real time RT-PCR assay quantitates norovirus genogroups I and II from patients with gastroenteritis.

According to a study from Canada, "Conventional reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (Con RT-PCR) assay to detect norovirus is a complex multistep procedure that requires gel electrophoresis as well as hybridization or sequencing to confirm the results.
