Reports from Argentina, Germany and the United States highlight recent research on diagnostics. Study 1: A nitrate reductase assay determines rifampin and isoniazid susceptibility from sputum samples. According to recent research published in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology, "Current methods for drug susceptibility testing of Mycobacterium tuberculosis are either costly or slow.
