Studies add new findings to HIV/AIDS diagnostics body of knowledge

New findings from the United States and Belgium describe advances in HIV/AIDS diagnostics.

Study 1: The Bayer TruGene genotype assay detects and characterizes non-subtype-B HIV-1 strains.

"Human immunodeficiency virus type I (HIV-1) protease (PR) and reverse transcriptase (RT) gene sequences obtained during antiretroviral resistance testing with a commercial genotyping assay (TruGene; Bayer Corp.) were analyzed to assess the utility of these data for detecting and characterizing non-subtype-B HIV-1 strains.
