Tuberculous spondylitis and pyogenic spondylitis diagnosis differentiated by MRI

MRI parameters may facilitate differential diagnosis of tuberculous spondylitis and pyogenic spondylitis.

"We retrospectively compared magnetic resonance images (MRIs) of tuberculous (TB) spondylitis and pyogenic spondylitis" to "identify differences between the diseases.

"Clinical and imaging findings of the 2 diseases are hard to distinguish," "MRI may show important differences and aid in early diagnosis and treatment," investigators in Taiwan report.

According to M.C. Chang and colleagues at the National Yang Ming University, School of Medicine in Taipei, "We compared 22 MRI parameters in 33 patients with TB spondylitis...
