Tuberculosis prevalence high in HIV-infected gold miners with low CD4 counts

The prevalence of tuberculosis is high in HIV-infected gold miners in South Africa with low CD4 counts.

In a recently published report, investigators in England conducted a study to "evaluate the process of screening for active tuberculosis (TB) prior to commencing TB preventive therapy in HIV-infected individuals" from an HIV clinic for employees of a gold mine in "Free State, South Africa."
