According to a study from the United States, "Immune-mediated hepatic damage has been demonstrated in the pathogenesis of hepatitis C virus (HCV) and other hepatotrophic infections. Fas/Fas ligand (FasL) interaction plays a critical role in immune-mediated hepatic damage.
