HIV/AIDS Traditional Healer



Some traditional healers report unsafe practices for infectious disease prevention and care

Some traditional healers in South Africa have poor knowledge and report unsafe practices for the prevention and care of HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections and tuberculosis.

According to a recent report from South Africa, "The aim of this study was investigate the HIV/AIDS/STI and TB knowledge, beliefs and practices of traditional healers in South Africa. In a cross-sectional study 233 traditional healers were interviewed in three selected communities in KwaZulu-Natal."
