Fresh data on life sciences are presented in the report 'Epidemics of influenza and pediatric diseases observed in infectious disease surveillance in Japan, 1999-2005.' According to a study from Japan, "A method for determining epidemics in small areas from the sentinel surveillance data has been proposed and applied in the National Epidemiological Surveillance of Infectious Diseases (NESID) in Japan.
