Scientists at University of British Columbia discuss research in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

"COPD is a global health concern, and is a major cause: of chronic morbidity and mortality worldwide. According to the World Health Organization, it is currently the sixth leading cause of death in the world, and further increases in the prevalence and mortality of the disease is predicted for the coming decades," researchers in Vancouver, Canada report. "These increases are mainly linked to the epidemic of tobacco exposure and indoor and outdoor air pollution in Asian countries.
