According to recent research published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, "Given an observed geographical variation in Legionnaires' disease incidence in The Netherlands, the aim of the study was to test the hypothesis that the type of drinking water production was an independent determinant of the incidence of Legionnaires' disease. For the 1987-2005 period, the incidence of Legionnaires' disease in The Netherlands and the price of water as a proxy for production type was studied at the municipal level."
