New obesity study findings recently were reported by V.V. Upasani and co-researchers

According to a study from the United States, "A retrospective review of surgical outcomes in adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis. To determine if an association exists between body mass and surgical outcomes in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis ( AIS)."

"Obesity has reached epidemic proportions globally. In adults, obesity increases the likelihood of developing multiple medical co-morbidities and has been associated with an increased incidence of perioperative complications. The effect of obesity on surgical outcomes in the treatment of AIS patients has not been studied previously.
