According to a study from the United States, "Community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CAMRSA) infection is currently a problem of epidemic proportion. Athletes represent a specific group of individuals who are at increased risk to develop CAMRSA skin infections." "In this article, the previously published reports of cutaneous CAMRSA infections in athletes are categorized by sport and summarized.
