Scientists at Chinese University of Hong Kong release new data on mumps

According to recent research from Hong Kong, People's Republic of China, "Iodide mumps can occur after administration of any iodinated contrast media, irrespective of the osmolality of the contrast preparation. This condition is characterized by acute salivary gland swelling shortly after contrast study, presumably secondary to toxic accumulation of iodide in salivary glands with high iodide concentration." "In this article, a case of iodide mumps is presented, along with a discussion of vulnerability due to renal impairment, which causes prolongation of the half-life of contrast media.
