Studies from University of Hannover, Department of Otolaryngology further understanding of meningitis in children

New research, 'Audiological performance in cochlear implanted patients deafened by meningitis depending on duration of deafness,' is the subject of a report. "The objective of our study was to evaluate audiological outcome in cochlear implanted children deafened by meningitis and its correlation with duration of deafness from meningitis in a retrospective clinical study at an academic tertiary referral center. Sixty patients profoundly deafened by meningitis were evaluated," scientists writing in the journal European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology report.
