According to a study from Sao Paulo, Brazil, "Cutaneous leishmaniases present similar clinical appearances. but differing prognosis in the course of infection. Ulcers caused by parasites of the subgenus Viannia are more aggressive than ulcers caused by parasites of the subgenus; Leishmania."
